Why This Course Matters

Mechanical work and electrical reasoning belong together.

An electric drive brings mechanical assembly, sensors, power electronics and control information into the same service discussion. Learners need to relate what they can inspect physically to the measurements and test conditions they use to explain a result.

Workplace Task Connections

Follow assembly information, record mechanical checks, interpret selected signals and distinguish a service observation from a controlled performance result.

What Institutions Need to Build

Separate but connected stations for assembly, service and testing, with resource packages and assessment evidence matched to each station’s scope.

Teach the assembly and the reasoning behind the result.

Use simulation and cutaways for preparation, physical stations for workmanship and inspection, and the dedicated test platform for permitted speed, torque and load investigations.

The Learning Experience

A Curriculum Built Around Real Tasks.

Establish the actual drive architecture, prepare the assembly task and build a diagnostic record. Keep controlled performance testing as a separately equipped module.

System foundations

Explain the structure you can actually see.

Use the service trainer and hybrid cutaway to compare their documented assemblies without treating the two as interchangeable.

Suggested Practical Tasks

  • Identify the visible components and supplied system family.
  • Relate the physical arrangement to its matching diagram.
  • Distinguish visual structure study from operating-system investigation.

Learner Evidence

An annotated structure map and architecture-specific explanation.

Digital preparation

Prepare the sequence before the physical task.

Use the motor simulation for its supported assembly, resolver and controller-state activities.

Suggested Practical Tasks

  • Complete the selected virtual assembly or resolver task.
  • Record the observations and references used.
  • Identify the checks that will require separate physical evidence.

Learner Evidence

A virtual task sheet and physical-practice preparation plan.

Physical practical

Build a complete assembly record.

Use the motor assembly system and service trainer for their respective approved dismantling, inspection and reassembly tasks.

Suggested Practical Tasks

  • Select the documented components and task-matched tools.
  • Complete the approved assembly or inspection assignment.
  • Record the mechanical checks and any supported resolver adjustment.

Learner Evidence

An individual assembly and inspection record.

Diagnostic reasoning

Relate the signal to the circuit question.

Connect supported motor circuit faults with permitted measurements. Use the oscilloscope only on signals covered by the selected probes and procedure.

Suggested Practical Tasks

  • Identify an instructor-selected supported fault condition.
  • Capture or record permitted readings with their settings.
  • Explain the finding and identify checks still needed.

Learner Evidence

A diagnostic report and labeled signal records.

Performance extension

Read speed and torque in their test context.

Use the dedicated performance platform for the approved load and measurement conditions. Do not infer a complete efficiency map from an isolated reading.

Suggested Practical Tasks

  • Document the instructor-approved operating conditions.
  • Record the permitted speed, torque and related test information.
  • Compare selected results and explain the measurement boundaries.

Learner Evidence

A test record and evidence-led performance comparison.

Course assessment

Defend the process and the conclusion.

Assess a task from the actual station configuration, with separate criteria for workmanship, measurements and interpretation.

Suggested Practical Tasks

  • Prepare the assigned task and required records.
  • Complete the permitted practical or analysis activity.
  • Explain the evidence and the limits of the conclusion.

Learner Evidence

A practical portfolio with station-specific assessment criteria.

Adapt the modules, practical hours and assessment to your program. Practical work follows your institution’s approved procedures and the equipment manual.

Course Planning Questions

Before You Build the Program.

Q01

Can the assembly system replace the performance platform?

They have different teaching roles. The assembly system supports its documented assembly, inspection and fault tasks; controlled performance experiments use the dedicated test platform.

Q02

Is the hybrid cutaway an operating hybrid trainer?

Treat it as a visual cutaway unless a powered operating mode is explicitly documented in the signed configuration. Its architecture must match the actual supplied unit.

Q03

Can the same oscilloscope support battery and motor lessons?

Both courses use the SATO2002. Select probes and input arrangements for each task, and plan instrument availability around the class timetable.

Q04

Can the platforms connect directly to one another?

A teaching sequence does not establish mechanical, electrical or software compatibility. Any intended connection needs a confirmed interface and operating schedule.
